Mary Lake sits in the midst of a treasured 107-acre parcel of carefully conserved and endangered Dry Coastal Douglas Fir ecosystem, and it’s in serious danger of vanishing forever.
Donations Suspended
The square metre donation campaign to SAVE MARY LAKE has been SUSPENDED for now.
Although the square metre donation campaign was well received, it did not generate enough funds to enable us to close our purchase agreement with the owners of the Mary Lake property. Our agreement has lapsed, although the property is still on the market. Since we do not have a purchase agreement with the owners, we decided to discontinue receiving further donations until a new agreement is in place.
ECO-HAMLET
Our initial attempt at developing strata/co-housing on a small portion (10 ac) in the northwest corner of the property did not attract enough subscribers to be viable. Since the Mary Lake property is still on the market, we believe that an Eco-Hamlet is still a feasible way of raising the money to purchase the property. This would be a chance to have a home or cottage in a beautiful wooded area only a few hundred metres from a tranquil lake. The lake itself and 90 ac of woods surrounding it would still become a park.
If you are interested in an outstanding housing opportunity, please contact Bob McMinn at 499 Millstream Lake Road, Victoria, B.C. V9B 6H5 or bobmcminn@shaw.ca.
